It\u2019s been a long road to North America, one that we couldn\u2019t have done without the support and insight from our patients, practitioners, partners, educators, friends and family. <\/span><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how the journey started: Upon graduating from Victoria University in 2006, some of my fellow students were setting up a Traditional Chinese Medicine practice in inner city Melbourne. These were exciting times as we all ventured out to follow our dreams after five years of studies. As with most recent graduates, we spent our days thinking about how we can make things better. As it turns out, one of those times, became my \u201cAh-ha moment.\u201d I wanted to bring to market better quality needles and products at fair prices<\/ span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”13319″ img_size=”full”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”” h4=”Eastern Adventure and a Search for Success” shape=”square” style=”custom” add_icon=”left” i_type=”openiconic” i_icon_openiconic=”vc-oi vc-oi-quote-left” i_color=”custom” custom_background=”#ffffff” i_custom_color=”#cc2737″ css=”.vc_custom_1644522421035{margin-top: 40px !important;margin-bottom: 40px !important;}”]My journey started with a 12-month visa for China, and off I went to start a business in acupuncture needles. Without any contacts, appointments or leads I was off. I had a thirst for adventure and success. I stayed in Shanghai with friends and we researched factories that produced acupuncture needles. The city of Suzhou was where our research led.<\/span><\/p>\n

I went to all the big names first to understand what was driving the industries high prices, and the reported quality issues. It became very apparent that the needles being produced were inexpensive and of average quality. I went to over a dozen manufacturers until I found a small factory that at the time was working with a US supplier we knew about. The excitement was overwhelming however, the result was our first product: The Red Coral Premium Acupuncture needle.<\/p>\n

With what little money I had left, I purchased as much as I could and headed home to Australia with the first Red Coral Needle.<\/p>\n

Providing a superior quality product with a competitive price was the inspiration for my journey. And as the business continues to grow, we still maintain this mantra. The next needle we delivered to the market was our extremely popular J-Type and shortly thereafter was our next needle, the Natural. The Importance of Educators<\/span><\/h2>\n

This vision would surely allow Red Coral to penetrate the Australian market, yet being the small, new kid on the block proved challenging at times. Our market strategy back then and now is to partner with highly skilled educators. This allows us to have a better understanding of the industry as a whole as well as help educate the industry needs and to educate the students on the importance of quality needles in Dry Needling and Acupuncture.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1539067812448{padding-top: 50px !important;padding-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

The World\u2019s First Dry Needle: A Journey of Innovation and Collaboration<\/h2>\n

Being a part of the dynamic dry needling and acupuncture industry remains the heart of Red Coral. Let’s rewind to where it all began \u2013 a pivotal conversation at the offices of Mr. Andrew Gallagher, Director of the Myofascial Pain Study Centre in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

In 2009, my introduction to Andrew came through Graham Strong, Managing Director of one of our Victorian distribution partners. Their connection from Med School laid the foundation for a transformative collaboration. A phone call from Andrew led me to the Myofascial Pain Study Centre, where an extraordinary opportunity awaited.<\/p>\n

Andrew and I delved into discussions about the Australian and international dry needling industries. It became evident that western modalities, employing dry needling as a pain management solution, were using acupuncture needles. As physiotherapists, a distinct tool was needed. Our brainstorming identified key differentiators:<\/p>\n

  • Thicker handles for enhanced dexterity in dry needling practices<\/li>\n
  • Superior materials suited for myofascial needling<\/li>\n
  • A product designed to create a nearly pain-free experience for patients while optimising clinician outcomes<\/li>\n
  • A unique product name setting it apart from traditional acupuncture needles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    And there it was \u2013 the birth of “Myotech,” a name that resonated with our vision for an industry-specific dry needle.<\/p>\n

    The journey continued in China, where finding a factory willing to bring our vision to life proved challenging. After exploring more than seven manufacturers, we finally secured a partnership. The years 2010-2012 saw numerous flights to Shanghai and persistent challenges, but the result was a prototype that embodied our vision:<\/p>\n

    • A thicker aluminium-tubed handle<\/li>\n
    • German surgical stainless steel<\/li>\n
    • Parylene coating using Green Chemistry for lubrication<\/li>\n
    • A product name that instantly connected with practitioners using dry needling techniques involving myofascial manipulation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Returning to Australia with the prototype in hand, anticipation filled the air. In January 2013, the Myotech Dry Needle made its debut, revolutionising courses taught by Jorgen Forsberg. This ground breaking product, specifically crafted for dry needling, trigger point therapy, myotherapy, and deep tissue stimulation, firmly established Red Coral’s position in the industry.<\/p>\n

      Collaborating with visionaries like Andrew Gallagher and Jorgen Forsberg, we birthed the Myotech Dry Needle, the world’s first of its kind. Crafted from evidence-based techniques, this milestone was achieved through a joint venture partnership with a German manufacturer, utilising high-grade German steel.<\/p>\n

      Today, Myotech products are making waves in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United States, and the European Union. Red Coral’s commitment to innovation and collaboration continues to shape the future of the industry.<\/p>\n
